Rest day in La Paz

Peru / Bolivia

Taylor’s knee is still flaring up so we rest in La Paz for the day. With the taste of climbs we got the past couple days and expectation of more to come, this seems like the right move. We are still enjoying out upscale hostal, complete with flat screen tv with HBO, hot water, toilet paper and toilet seat (yes most lesser places do not offer this). We spend the day running errands around the city.  Taylor needs to repair a zipper on his down jacket andsomehow we find the largest zipper repair tienda that exists. Seriously, there must be 100,000 zippers in this place. The zipper gnome, as we call him, quickly sifts through his inventory and has Taylor back and running in less than 15 minutes for about $5USD.

The evening plan includes having dinner at Taylor’s friend Denise’s apartment. She is a local Bolivian. Also joining us are his tour buddy Roggero (Italian), 4 Argentinians, 2 other Bolovians, 2 from Costa Rica, and 1 Croatian. Dinner is served at 10 pm and by 12a, we are heading into a locals only discoteca where we dance until 3am. Everyone in the place knows all the songs played by the DJ and sings along. I grab a cab back to the hotel and am asleep by 330a. Shattered…again. 1 more rest day in La Paz then we need to get moving.
